Vasan Sitthiket: Vasan's Women

Valentine Willie Fine Art is delighted to present Vasan Sitthiketís second solo collaboration with Valentine Willie Fine Art entitled ĎVasanís Womení. Women in various guises occupy a special place in Vasan Sitthiketís oeuvre. Pictured alternately as either passive objects or active and powerful players shaping their own destiny, Vasanís women are variously depicted as purveyors of sexual temptation, victims of the sex trade, complacent subjects of consumer-targeting propaganda, maternal givers of life, and metaphorical icons assimilated with mother-earth-mother-Thailand. Often viewed with tenderness and admiration by the artist, whether portrayed as young or old, whether shown as agents for good or evil, Vasanís take on the opposite sex is personal and heart-felt rather than generic.
