INTERFACE: Bandung
INTERFACE: BANDUNG
Curated by Eva McGovern, Rifandy Priatna & Yogie Ginanjar
15 FEBRUARY – 10 MARCH 2012
Bandung has been known for its rapid growth and diversity in the Indonesian Contemporary Art Scene. As prominent centre, where many artists live and work, it is a rich and unique site filled with numerous creative influences from the Institutes and Universities, art spaces and galleries, established artists and curators and underground-pop culture manifested in industrialized local clothing, internationally well-known indie bands and local creative communities. This modern and creative landscape fuels and inspires the current generation of visual artists living in the city.
INTERFACE: BANDUNG is an attempt to emphasize the works of five young artists who live and work in Bandung. Most of them are fresh graduates from Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB) and have been participating in various exhibitions for the past two years. How does Bandung, as a site or place, generally influences these young artists in their artistic practices and concepts? The exhibition aims to showcase not only their individual talents and skills but reveal the importance of the city itself in creative practice.
Featured artists: Aliansyah, Jabbar Muhammad, Panca Dz, Satria Nugraha & Theo Frids
