HEADLIGHTS 2012

Valentine Willie Fine Art launches into the New Year with HEADLIGHTS 2012 – an annual exhibition featuring new works by both established and emerging artists from the region, providing the viewing public with a glimpse of our exciting programme ahead. The show will spotlight individuals who inspire and stretch the boundaries of artistic expression and process while seeking to challenge the way we see and interpret.  New emerging forces from a younger generation of artists who have begun to play active dynamic roles within their community will also be highlighted in what we hope to be an insightful showcase of Southeast Asia’s most exciting talents.

Participating artists are Aliansyah (Indonesia), Amy Aragon (The Philippines), Eiffel Chong (Malaysia), Huang Wei (Singapore), Jabbar Muhammad (Indonesia), Jason Montinola (The Philippines), Kaloy Sanchez (The Philippines), Liew Kwai Fei (Malaysia), Satria Nugraha (Indonesia) and Vincent Leong (Malaysia) among others.

Ten Thousand Waves: PHOTOGRAPHS by Isaac Julien

TEN THOUSAND WAVES is a nine screen video installation which features Maggie Cheung, Zhao Tao, Yang Fudong, and poems by Wang Ping as commissioned by Julien and was shot on location in China. The work poetically weaves together stories linking China's ancient past and present. Through a visually sumptuous installation the work explores the movement of people across countries and continents and meditates on unfinished journeys. Valentine Willie Fine Art (Singapore) in collaboration with Victoria Miro Gallery(London) presents a series of limited edition photographs that accompany the project.
